Nice to meet you.
My name is Kelly. I am a UI/UX designer with a background in music education and music therapy. My career has always had one consistent theme: using creativity to solve problems. As a former music educator and music therapist, I have 10-plus years of experience taking in data and formulating creative solutions to achieve measurable goals. It feels natural and inspiring to transition to a career as a product designer where I get to use this finely honed skill to help propel products to the next level of usability.
My experience as an educator gives me an edge in creating clear and structured information architecture for users to easily navigate through a product and accomplish a task. As a music therapist, I have worked with a wide range of populations, including special needs and in-patient psychiatric care, which has taught me to approach every individual with curiosity and without judgment. I pride myself on my ability to empathize and use that empathy to cultivate solutions for change.
I currently live in Charleston, South Carolina. I love tending to my ever-growing house plant collection, playing Zelda, and reading a good fantasy book. I am most joyful when I am with my husband, 2-year-old daughter, and my dog who looks like a muppet.
